Briouates au Miel

Briouates au Miel are delightful Moroccan pastries filled with a mixture of nuts and spices, then baked to golden perfection and drizzled with honey. This healthy version uses whole ingredients, making it a deliciously sweet end to any meal.

Ingredients

  • Filo pastry - 6 sheets
  • Almonds, finely chopped - 50 grams
  • Walnuts, finely chopped - 50 grams
  • Honey - 60 ml
  • Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the finely chopped almonds, walnuts, cinnamon, and half of the honey.
  3. Lay out one sheet of filo pastry and brush it lightly with olive oil.
  4. Place another sheet on top and brush with olive oil again.
  5. Cut the layered pastry into 3 equal strips.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the nut mixture at one end of each strip.
  7. Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding to the end of the strip, sealing the filling inside.
  8. Repeat with the remaining strips and filling.
  9. Place the briouates on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  10. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  11. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. While baking, heat the remaining honey with 2 tablespoons of water in a small saucepan until smooth.
  13. Once the briouates are done, remove them from the oven and immediately drizzle with the honey mixture.
