Ingredients
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Phyllo dough - 200 grams (about 10 sheets)
- Butter - 50 grams, melted
- Egg - 1, beaten (for sealing)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the cilantro, parsley, cinnamon, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again.
- Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto one end of the phyllo dough. Fold over the sides and roll tightly into a cylinder, sealing the end with beaten egg.
- Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets and filling until all are used.
- In a deep skillet or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry the briouats in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top while still warm.
- Serve hot with a side of dipping sauce, if desired.
