Ingredients
- chicken breast - 250 grams, cooked and shredded
- phyllo dough - 6 sheets
- onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
- cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- egg - 1, beaten (for sealing)
- sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Add the cooked and shredded chicken to the skillet, along with cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and repeat the oiling process.
- Cut the layered phyllo dough into 4 equal strips. Place a tablespoon of the chicken mixture at one end of each strip.
- Fold the sides of the phyllo over the filling and roll it up tightly to form a triangle or rectangle. Seal the edges with the beaten egg.
- Place the briouats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with a side of yogurt or salad.
