Ingredients

  • Warka pastry sheets - 4 sheets
  • Mixed dried fruits (apricots, figs, raisins) - 100 grams, chopped
  • Almonds - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the chopped dried fruits, finely chopped almonds, honey, cinnamon, and orange blossom water. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  2. Take a warka pastry sheet and cut it in half. Place a spoonful of the fruit mixture at one end of the sheet.
  3. Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, then roll it up tightly to form a small cylinder. Repeat with the remaining sheets and filling.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the briouats in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  5. Remove the briouats from the oil and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
