Ingredients
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Egg - 1, beaten (for sealing)
- Brick pastry sheets - 4 sheets
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cilantro, cinnamon, cumin, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Lay out one sheet of brick pastry on a clean surface and cut it into two rectangles. Brush one side lightly with olive oil.
- Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture at one end of each rectangle. Fold the sides in and roll tightly to form a triangle shape. Seal the edges with the beaten egg.
- Repeat the process with the remaining pastry sheets and filling.
- Heat the remaining olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the briouats in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
