Ingredients

  • Shrimp - 200 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Butter - 30 grams, melted

Steps

  1. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and shrimp to the skillet, cooking until the shrimp are pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chopped cilantro, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
  4. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  5. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush with more butter.
  6. Cut the stacked phyllo sheets into 4 equal strips lengthwise. Place a tablespoon of the shrimp mixture at one end of each strip.
  7. Fold the phyllo over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding the triangle along the strip to the end, sealing the filling inside. Brush the top with more melted butter.
  8. Repeat with the remaining phyllo sheets and shrimp mixture.
  9. Place the briouats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
