Ingredients

  • Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
  • Dark chocolate (70% cocoa) - 100 grams
  • Ground almonds - 50 grams
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Butter - 30 grams (melted)
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, melt the dark chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix the ground almonds, sugar, cinnamon, and melted chocolate until well combined.
  4. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again with butter.
  5. Cut the stacked phyllo sheets into 4 equal strips.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the chocolate-almond mixture at one end of each strip.
  7. Fold the corner of the strip over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding in a triangular pattern until you reach the end of the strip.
  8. Seal the end with a little melted butter.
  9. Repeat with the remaining strips and filling.
  10. Place the briouats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds over them.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. In a small saucepan, combine honey and water, heating until warm and mixed.
  14. Remove the briouats from the oven and immediately drizzle the honey mixture over them.
  15. Let cool slightly before serving.
