Ingredients
- Almonds - 200 grams
- Sugar - 75 grams
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 50 grams, melted
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Warka pastry or phyllo dough - 4 sheets
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons (for garnish)
Steps
- In a food processor, combine the almonds, sugar, and cinnamon until finely ground.
- Add the melted butter and beaten egg to the almond mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Lay out one sheet of warka pastry or phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted butter.
- Place a spoonful of the almond mixture at one end of the pastry sheet and fold it over to form a triangle, continuing to fold until you reach the opposite end.
- Seal the edges with a little water to ensure they stay closed during frying.
- Repeat with the remaining sheets and filling until all are made.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat and fry the briouats in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey and water and heat until warm, then dip each briouat in the honey mixture for a sweet glaze.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
