Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Active dry yeast - 7 grams
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Milk - 120 ml, lukewarm
  • Butter - 60 grams, melted
  • Eggs - 2, large
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cardamom - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Honey - for drizzling
  • Fresh fruit (such as figs, oranges, or pomegranates) - for serving

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground cardamom.
  3. Add the melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture, then pour this mixture into the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf or individual rolls. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  8. Let the shaped dough rise for another 30 minutes, then bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm, drizzled with honey and accompanied by fresh fruit.
