Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Unsalted butter (melted) - 100 grams
  • Water - 80 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Ground almonds - 50 grams
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Sesame seeds - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  2. Slowly add water until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, mix ground almonds, sugar, ground cinnamon, honey, and orange blossom water to create the filling.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 3 mm thick. Cut into squares or circles.
  6. Place a spoonful of the almond filling in the center of each piece of dough, fold over, and seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
