Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Honey - 10 grams
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, active dry yeast, and honey. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let the dough rise for another 30 minutes, covered with a cloth.
- Make a few shallow slashes on top of the loaf with a sharp knife, then bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
