Ingredients

  • Dried fava beans - 100 grams
  • Water - 750 ml
  • Onion - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Soak the dried fava beans in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the soaked fava beans, then place them in a pot with 750 ml of fresh water.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 25-30 minutes, or until the beans are soft.
  5. Once the beans are cooked, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add more water.
  6. Stir in the cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper, and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Serve the soup hot, drizzled with olive oil and garnished with fresh parsley.
