- Beef shoulder - 500 grams
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Cumin powder - 2 teaspoons
- Coriander powder - 2 teaspoons
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon - 1, juiced
- Fresh cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
- Water - 200 milliliters
Steps
- Cut the beef shoulder into large cubes and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice to create a marinade.
- Add the beef cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
- In a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven, place the marinated beef along with any remaining marinade and water.
- Cover the pot with a lid and place it in the preheated oven. Cook for 2 hours or until the beef is tender.
- Once cooked, remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Serve the Beef Tanjia hot, garnished with chopped cilantro and accompanied by warm bread.
