- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small (about 100 grams)
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Parsley (fresh, chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cilantro (fresh, chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin (ground) - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika (smoked) - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon (ground) - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Egg - 1 large
- Water - 50 milliliters
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and the egg. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Shape the beef mixture into 12 small meatballs, approximately 3-4 cm in diameter.
- In a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water. Pour this sauce over the browned meatballs in the skillet.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional chopped parsley and cilantro if desired.
