- Almonds (sliced) - 30 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Egg - 1 large
- Phyllo pastry sheets - 4
- Butter (melted) - 30 grams
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Lettuce (for serving) - 2 leaves
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1/2 medium
- Yogurt (for sauce) - 100 grams
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic in a little oil until translucent.
- Add the ground chicken to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in cinnamon, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Once cooled, mix in the sliced almonds and beaten egg until well combined.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface, brush with melted butter, and layer another sheet on top. Repeat for a total of 2 layers.
- Spoon half of the chicken mixture into the center of the phyllo pastry, and fold the edges over to create a parcel. Brush the top with more melted butter.
- Repeat the process for the second burger.
- Place the parcels on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the burgers bake, mix the yogurt with lemon juice, and a pinch of salt to create a sauce.
- Once cooked, let the burgers rest for a few minutes before slicing in half. Serve on a bed of lettuce, topped with tomato and cucumber slices, and drizzle with yogurt sauce.
