Ingredients

  • Phyllo pastry - 6 sheets
  • Mixed seafood (shrimp, mussels, and calamari) - 300 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams, toasted
  • Powdered sugar - for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the mixed seafood to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the seafood is cooked through.
  4. Stir in the parsley, cilantro, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  5. In a bowl, whisk the eggs and then mix them into the cooled seafood mixture along with the toasted pine nuts.
  6. Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Layer another sheet on top and repeat the process until you have three sheets layered.
  7. Spoon half of the seafood filling onto the center of the layered phyllo. Fold the sides over the filling to create a rectangle and brush the top with more melted butter.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets and seafood filling, creating a second bastilla.
  9. Place both bastillas on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
