Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Red onion - 1/2 small, sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Chipotle sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, ground cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Coat the tofu slices with the marinade and let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium heat and add the marinated tofu slices. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- While the tofu is cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly in another skillet or oven.
- Spread chipotle sauce on the bottom half of each bun, then layer with grilled tofu, sliced avocado, tomato, red onion, and cilantro.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve with lime wedges on the side.
