Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/2 small, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Chipotle sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, ground cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Coat the tofu slices with the marinade and let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium heat and add the marinated tofu slices. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  5. While the tofu is cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly in another skillet or oven.
  6. Spread chipotle sauce on the bottom half of each bun, then layer with grilled tofu, sliced avocado, tomato, red onion, and cilantro.
  7. Top with the other half of the bun and serve with lime wedges on the side.
