Ingredients
- Beef flank steak - 300 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Bolillo rolls - 2
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Chipotle mayo - 4 tablespoons (1 tablespoon per serving)
- Lettuce leaves - 2
Steps
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Add the beef flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it's well coated, and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, grill the marinated steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- While the steak is resting, cut the bolillo rolls in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster.
- Spread 2 tablespoons of chipotle mayo on each toasted bolillo half.
- Layer the bottom half of each bolillo with lettuce leaves, sliced steak, avocado, tomato, red onion, and fresh cilantro.
- Top with the other half of the bolillo roll, serve immediately, and enjoy your Torta de Asada!
