Ingredients

  • Large corn tortillas - 2
  • Beef flank steak - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic cloves - 2, minced
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oaxacan cheese (or mozzarella) - 100 grams, grated
  • Lettuce - 1 cup, shredded
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Radishes - 4, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the marinated flank steak for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly.
  5. While the steak is resting, place the corn tortillas on the grill for about 1-2 minutes on each side until they are crispy.
  6. To assemble, place a grilled tortilla on a plate, sprinkle with grated Oaxacan cheese, and top with sliced grilled steak, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, sliced avocado, radishes, and chopped cilantro.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Tlayudas con Asada!
