- Corn masa - 150 grams
- Whey protein powder - 30 grams
- Almond milk - 100 ml
- Baking powder - 5 grams
- Coconut oil - 15 grams
- Brown sugar - 20 grams
- Mixed fruits (mango, banana, and berries) - 150 grams
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Corn husks - 6 pieces
Steps
- Soak the corn husks in warm water for about 30 minutes to soften them.
- In a large bowl, mix the corn masa, whey protein powder, baking powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add the almond milk and melted coconut oil to the masa mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
- Chop the mixed fruits into small pieces and set aside.
- Take one corn husk and spread about 2 tablespoons of the masa dough in the center, forming a rectangle.
- Place a tablespoon of the chopped fruits on top of the masa, then fold the sides of the husk over to enclose the filling and secure it with a tie or string.
- Repeat this process for the remaining husks and dough until all are filled.
- In a steamer, place the tamales upright and steam for about 30-35 minutes, or until the masa pulls away easily from the husk.
- Once cooked, let the tamales cool for a few minutes before serving.
