Ingredients

- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/3 cup
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Unsalted butter - 1/4 cup, softened
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Corn husks - 8-10, soaked in warm water
Steps
- Soak the corn husks in warm water for at least 30 minutes to soften them.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine masa harina, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy, then add the milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon, mixing well.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Take a soaked corn husk and spread about 2 tablespoons of the masa dough onto the center, leaving space at the sides.
- Fold the sides of the corn husk over the masa and then fold the bottom up to secure the tamale.
- Repeat until all the masa is used, placing the tamales upright in a steamer basket.
- Steam the tamales over boiling water for about 60 minutes, or until the masa pulls away from the husk easily.
- Remove from the steamer and let cool slightly before serving.
