Ingredients
- Beef (flank steak) - 300 grams
- Guava paste - 100 grams
- Chicken broth (Halal) - 200 ml
- Onion - 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Corn tortillas - 4 small
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- In a medium bowl, season the flank steak with salt, black pepper, and cumin powder. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the marinated beef to the skillet and sear on all sides until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the chicken broth and add the guava paste. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Cover the skillet and let it cook on low heat for about 20 minutes, or until the beef is tender and fully cooked.
- Once cooked, remove the beef from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into thin strips.
- In the same skillet, reduce the sauce for about 5 minutes on medium-high heat until slightly thickened.
- Warm the corn tortillas in a separate pan or microwave, then assemble the tacos by placing strips of beef on each tortilla.
- Drizzle the reduced guava sauce over the beef, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve with lime wedges on the side.
