  • Pork shoulder (halal) - 300 grams
  • Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges

Steps

  1. Cut the pork shoulder into small cubes (about 2 cm) and season with salt, black pepper, cumin, and oregano. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated pork to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Stir in the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and enough water to cover the pork (about 200 ml). Bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it cook for about 25 minutes, or until the pork is tender.
  7. While the pork cooks, warm the corn tortillas on a separate skillet or directly over a low flame until pliable.
  8. Once the pork is cooked, shred it with two forks and mix it with the sauce in the skillet.
  9. Assemble the tacos by adding the pork mixture to the warm tortillas and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  10. Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.
