Ingredients
- White fish fillets (e.g., tilapia or cod) - 250 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Fresh lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
- Shredded cabbage - 1 cup
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Sour cream (or a halal alternative) - 2 tablespoons
- Avocado - 1, sliced
- Lime wedges - for serving
Steps
- In a bowl, combine minced garlic, lime juice, olive oil, cumin, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Add the fish fillets to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated fish fillets and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the fish from the skillet and let it rest for a couple of minutes before flaking it into bite-sized pieces.
- Warm the corn tortillas in the same skillet for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
- Assemble the tacos by placing a generous portion of the flaked fish on each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, chopped cilantro, and a drizzle of sour cream.
- Add sliced avocado on top of each taco and serve with lime wedges on the side.
