Ingredients

  • Nopales (cactus pads) - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lime - 1, juiced
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - ½ teaspoon
  • Corn tortillas - 4
  • Red onion - 50 grams, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - ¼ cup, chopped
  • Avocado - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Rinse the nopales under cold water and pat them dry.
  3. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Brush the nopales with the olive oil mixture on both sides.
  5. Place the nopales on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are tender and have nice grill marks.
  6. While the nopales are grilling, warm the corn tortillas on the grill for about 1 minute on each side, until they are soft and pliable.
