  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Red onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Salsa - 100 grams (optional)

Steps

  1. Steam the tempeh for 10 minutes to soften it, then let it cool slightly before crumbling it into a bowl.
  2. In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced red onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the crumbled tempeh and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tempeh is heated through and slightly crispy.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in the chopped cilantro.
  6. Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing a generous amount of the tempeh mixture in the center of each tortilla. Top with avocado slices and serve with lime wedges and salsa on the side.
