Ingredients

  • Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Avocado (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Greek yogurt - 4 tablespoons
  • Lime zest - 1 teaspoon
  • Hot sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped cilantro, lime juice, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Add the shrimp and mix until well coated. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. While the shrimp is marinating, prepare the lime crema by mixing the Greek yogurt, lime zest, and hot sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and cooked through.
  4. Toast the whole grain burger buns in the skillet until lightly browned.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked shrimp on the bottom half of each bun, topping with sliced avocado and a generous dollop of lime crema. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
  6. Serve immediately with extra lime wedges and hot sauce on the side, if desired.
