Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef - 250 grams
  • Queso fresco - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Tomato - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal patties and make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle crumbled queso fresco on top of each patty to melt slightly.
  5. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the cilantro-lime sauce by mixing chopped cilantro and lime juice in a small bowl.
  6. To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each whole wheat bun, followed by the cooked patty with melted queso fresco, sliced avocado, and tomato.
  7. Drizzle the cilantro-lime sauce over the top and place the other half of the bun on top. Serve immediately.
