Ingredients

  • Whole wheat pizza dough - 200 grams
  • Chorizo sausage (lean) - 100 grams, sliced
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Mozzarella cheese (part-skim) - 100 grams, shredded
  • Queso fresco - 50 grams, crumbled
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges for serving

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the rolled dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Brush the dough lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Evenly distribute the sliced chorizo over the dough, followed by the sliced red bell pepper and red onion.
  6. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and crumbled queso fresco over the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before garnishing with chopped cilantro.
  9. Slice the pizza and serve with lime wedges on the side.
