Ingredients

  • Whole wheat pizza dough - 200 grams
  • Poblano peppers - 2 large
  • Ground turkey - 150 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Cinnamon - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oregano - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste
  • Walnuts - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Ricotta cheese - 100 grams
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Pomegranate seeds - 2 tablespoons for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Roast the poblano peppers over an open flame or in the oven until charred. Place them in a plastic bag to steam for about 10 minutes, then peel and deseed.
  3. In a skillet, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic over medium heat until translucent.
  4. Add the ground turkey to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Stir in the diced tomato, cinnamon, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes and set aside.
  5. Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Spread the turkey mixture evenly over the pizza dough.
  7. Cut the roasted poblano peppers into strips and arrange them on top of the turkey mixture.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with chopped walnuts and parsley. Dollop this mixture over the pizza.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is slightly browned.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with pomegranate seeds before slicing and serving.
