Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large (for wrapping)
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4 medium, diced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lime - 1, juiced
  • Jalapeño - 1 small, diced (optional)
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cumin. Mix until well blended.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  4. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  5. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the pico de gallo by combining diced tomato, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño (if using), and lime juice in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  6. Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. To assemble, place a burger patty on a large lettuce leaf, top with a generous scoop of pico de gallo and sliced avocado.
  8. Wrap the lettuce around the burger and enjoy your Pico de Gallo Burger!
