Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 300 grams
  • Orange juice - 120 ml (freshly squeezed from about 2 oranges)
  • Orange zest - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Jalapeño - 1 small, minced (optional for heat)
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges (for serving)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the orange juice, orange zest, minced garlic, jalapeño (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated fish fillets, cooking for about 4-5 minutes per side or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside. Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the fish to the skillet and spoon the sauce over it, allowing it to warm through for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve the fish with fresh cilantro sprinkled on top and lime wedges on the side.
