Ingredients
- Whole fish (e.g., tilapia or snapper) - 500 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red onion - 1 medium, sliced
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, diced
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
Steps
- Start by cleaning the fish, removing scales and entrails, and pat it dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Rub the marinade generously over the fish, making sure to get some inside the cavity. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill the fish for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- While the fish is grilling, prepare the salsa by combining diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, and chopped cilantro in a bowl. Season with a pinch of salt and lime juice.
- Once the fish is done, remove it from the grill and serve with avocado slices and the fresh salsa on the side.
