Ingredients

  • Guava paste - 150 grams
  • Corn tortillas - 4 small (about 15 cm diameter)
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or almonds) - 30 grams
  • Honey (optional) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Begin by cutting the guava paste into small, even squares, about 2x2 cm.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
  3. Place one corn tortilla in the skillet and warm it for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  4. Remove the tortilla from the skillet and place a square of guava paste in the center.
  5. Fold the tortilla over the guava paste to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal it.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and guava paste.
  7. Add the remaining tablespoon of coconut oil to the skillet and return it to medium heat.
  8. Carefully place the folded papalotes in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Once cooked, remove them from the skillet and sprinkle with cinnamon powder and chopped nuts.
  10. Drizzle with honey if desired and serve warm.
