Ingredients
- Ground beef - 300 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Onion - 1 small, diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Chili powder - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Canned diced tomatoes - 200 grams
- Unsweetened tomato sauce - 100 grams
- Cream cheese - 100 grams, softened
- Shredded cheddar cheese - 150 grams
- Cilantro - for garnish, optional
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the canned diced tomatoes and tomato sauce to the skillet, stir, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with half of the shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the beef mixture, then spread the cream cheese mixture over it, followed by the remaining beef mixture.
- Top with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
