Ingredients
- Ground turkey - 300 grams
- Poblano peppers - 2 medium
- Red onion - 1 small
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Cheddar cheese - 50 grams, shredded
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
Steps
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat.
- Roast the poblano peppers on the grill until the skin is blistered and charred, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and let cool before peeling off the skin and slicing into strips.
- In a bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped cilantro, lime juice, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and cumin. Mix well and form into two patties.
- Heat olive oil in the skillet and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and internal temperature reaches 75°C.
- In the last minute of cooking, place shredded cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover to melt.
- While the patties are cooking, slice the red onion into rings and sauté them in the same skillet until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the turkey patty with melted cheese, sautéed onions, roasted poblano strips, and avocado slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Hamburguesa de Rajas!
