Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the turkey mince, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and golden brown.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the pico de gallo by mixing the diced tomato, onion, jalapeño (if using), and a squeeze of lime juice in a bowl.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the skillet for about 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the turkey patty on the bottom half of the bun, adding sliced avocado and a generous spoonful of pico de gallo on top. Place the top half of the bun over the filling.
