  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Avocado - 1, sliced
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the diced nopales to the skillet and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes until they soften. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey or chicken with the black beans, cooked nopales, cilantro, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Form the mixture into two patties, ensuring they are even in thickness.
