Ingredients
- Jicama - 300 grams (about 1 medium-sized jicama)
- Ground turkey or plant-based protein - 250 grams
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Red onion - 1/2 small, thinly sliced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Peel the jicama and slice it into 1-inch thick rounds to create the burger 'buns'.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey or plant-based protein with garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two patties, ensuring they are evenly shaped.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the jicama rounds by grilling them for 2-3 minutes on each side until slightly softened (optional).
- Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty between two jicama slices. Top with avocado, tomato, red onion, and cilantro.
- Drizzle with lime juice before serving.
