Ingredients
- Ground beef (grass-fed) - 300 grams
- Huitlacoche (canned or fresh) - 150 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Romaine lettuce leaves - 4 large (for wrapping)
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, huitlacoche, minced garlic, chopped red onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Form the mixture into two patties of equal size, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce wrap by washing and drying the romaine leaves.
- Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- To assemble, place each patty on a large romaine lettuce leaf, top with sliced avocado, and if desired, add additional cilantro or lime juice.
- Wrap the lettuce around the burger and serve immediately.
