  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Avocado - 1 medium, mashed
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a food processor, blend the almonds until finely ground but not a paste.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground almonds, black beans, rolled oats, chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
  4. Form the mixture into two patties.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  8. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the patty, sliced tomato, and a generous dollop of avocado sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
