Ingredients
- Almonds - 100 grams
- Cooked black beans - 150 grams
- Rolled oats - 50 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Avocado - 1 medium, mashed
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a food processor, blend the almonds until finely ground but not a paste.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground almonds, black beans, rolled oats, chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
- Form the mixture into two patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the avocado sauce by mixing the mashed avocado with lime juice and a pinch of salt.
- Once the patties are cooked, toast the burger buns in the oven for 2-3 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the patty, sliced tomato, and a generous dollop of avocado sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
