Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 medium habanero pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large romaine lettuce leaves
  • 100g avocado, sliced
  • 50g queso fresco, crumbled
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped habanero pepper, garlic powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare your toppings: slice the avocado, crumble the queso fresco, and slice the tomato.
  5. Once the burgers are done, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  6. To assemble, place each burger patty on a large romaine lettuce leaf and top with avocado slices, crumbled queso fresco, and tomato slices.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side.
