- Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
- Beef brisket - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Sour cream - for serving
- Shredded lettuce - for serving
- Salsa - for serving
Steps
- In a pot, add the beef brisket, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes until the beef is tender.
- Remove the beef from the pot and shred it using two forks. Reserve some broth for later if desired.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Soften the corn tortillas one at a time for about 30 seconds on each side, then place them on a plate.
- Fill each tortilla with shredded beef, roll them tightly, and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
- In the same skillet, heat the remaining olive oil over medium-high heat. Fry the flautas in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove the flautas from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Squeeze lime juice over them and garnish with chopped cilantro.
- Serve hot with sour cream, shredded lettuce, and salsa on the side.
