Ingredients

  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Beef brisket - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lime - 1, juiced
  • Sour cream - for serving
  • Shredded lettuce - for serving
  • Salsa - for serving

Steps

  1. In a pot, add the beef brisket, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes until the beef is tender.
  2. Remove the beef from the pot and shred it using two forks. Reserve some broth for later if desired.
  3. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Soften the corn tortillas one at a time for about 30 seconds on each side, then place them on a plate.
  4. Fill each tortilla with shredded beef, roll them tightly, and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
  5. In the same skillet, heat the remaining olive oil over medium-high heat. Fry the flautas in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Remove the flautas from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Squeeze lime juice over them and garnish with chopped cilantro.
  7. Serve hot with sour cream, shredded lettuce, and salsa on the side.
