Ingredients
- sweetened condensed milk - 200 ml
- evaporated milk - 100 ml
- large eggs - 2
- vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- sugar - 60 grams (for caramel)
- water - 2 tablespoons (for caramel)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat to make the caramel. Stir until the sugar dissolves and turns a golden amber color. Remove from heat and quickly pour the caramel into a 6-inch round flan mold, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
- In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the milk mixture over the caramel in the flan mold.
- Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold (bain-marie method).
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove the flan from the oven and the water bath, and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert it onto a plate, and enjoy the caramel sauce that flows over it.
