Ingredients

  • Ground turkey - 300 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime zest - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1/2, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped cilantro, lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into 2 equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the turkey patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a separate pan or toaster until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a turkey patty on each bun, and topping with slices of avocado, tomato, and red onion.
  6. Serve immediately with a side of fresh salad or sweet potato fries.
