- Ground turkey - 300 grams
- Fresh cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Lime zest - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Avocado - 1/2, sliced
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped cilantro, lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Form the mixture into 2 equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the turkey patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a separate pan or toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a turkey patty on each bun, and topping with slices of avocado, tomato, and red onion.
- Serve immediately with a side of fresh salad or sweet potato fries.
