- Water - 300 ml

- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
