- all-purpose flour - 125 grams
- water - 150 ml
- coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
- sugar - 1 tablespoon
- baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- salt - a pinch
- sugar (for coating) - 50 grams
- vegetable oil (for frying) - enough for deep frying
Steps
- In a saucepan, combine water, coconut oil, and sugar. Heat over medium until the mixture is warm and the oil is melted.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the warm liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and add vanilla extract. Stir until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until hot.
- Pipe 10 cm long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove churros and drain on paper towels.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish and roll the churros in the mixture while still warm.
- Serve immediately with a dipping chocolate or your favorite vegan sauce.
