- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Honey or maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Unsweetened almond milk - 120 ml
- Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
- Cinnamon sugar (for coating) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a blender, pulse the rolled oats until they become a fine flour.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the oat flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the honey (or maple syrup) with almond milk until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- In a deep pan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat until hot.
- Pipe strips of dough (about 10 cm long) into the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the churros and drain on paper towels, then roll them in cinnamon sugar while still warm.
- Serve warm with a side of chocolate sauce or fruit dip if desired.
