Ingredients
- water - 250 ml
- unsalted butter - 50 g
- granulated sugar - 1 tablespoon
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- all-purpose flour - 150 g
- eggs - 2 large
- vegetable oil - for frying
- granulated sugar - 50 g (for coating)
- ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a small saucepan, combine water, butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms.
- Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
- In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Pipe 10 cm lengths of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting with scissors as needed. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove churros from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow bowl, mix 50 g of sugar with ground cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
- Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or a beverage of your choice.
