Ingredients

  • Wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Lime wedges - for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten each ball into thin discs using a rolling pin.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the flattened discs into the oil, frying them until they puff up and turn golden brown (about 1-2 minutes per side).
  6. Remove the chicharrones from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with lime wedges on the side.
